Using Clink
Share to Copium
Sign in with Copium to share screenshots and clips from Clink.
Sign in to Copium from Clink to share your screenshots and clips. Each upload gets a link you can paste anywhere. This is available in Clink 0.4.4 and later.
Sign in with Copium
Start from the App tab
Open Clink, go to the App tab and find Copium. Press Sign in with Copium.
Pick a name (optional)
Name on Copium is how this connection shows up on copium.pics under ShareX & API. It starts as Clink-, followed by your PC name. Change it before you sign in if you like.
Check the code
Your browser opens copium.pics. Make sure the code on the page matches the code shown in Clink.
Press Connect
Press Connect on the Copium page. Clink then shows "Signed in as" and your name.
While Clink waits for you, you can press Open the page again if you closed the browser tab, or Cancel to stop. If the connection drops, Clink says "Can't reach Copium right now. Still trying…" and keeps trying until it is back, the code runs out, or you cancel.
For what a connected app can do, and how to remove one, see Connected apps.
The welcome window
The first time you sign in, Clink shows a window titled "You're connected to Copium".
- Automatically upload every screenshot I take is ticked unless you agreed to sharing before (then it shows your current setting). If you leave it ticked, each screenshot is uploaded to your Copium account and gets a link you can share. Anyone with the link can see it.
- Start sharing turns sharing on, with the box set the way you left it.
- Not now keeps you signed in and doesn't turn sharing on. Clink asks for your OK when you first share, unless you've already agreed.
Pressing Esc or closing the window counts as Not now. So does Enter, unless Start sharing is selected. Sharing only starts when you choose Start sharing.
The window also says "Clips are only uploaded when you share them." That is true whatever you choose.
Sharing consent
Clink never uploads anything until you have said yes once: either Start sharing in the welcome window (above), or Enable Copium sharing in a pop-up titled "Share with Copium?". The pop-up explains that sharing uploads the clip or screenshot you choose to your Copium account and copies the link to your clipboard, and that nothing is uploaded until you ask for it. It also warns:
Anything you upload is immediately publicly accessible to anyone who has the link. Links are not private and cannot be recalled by Clink.
When it appears
Clink asks each time you share a clip or upload a screenshot, until you agree. It also asks:
- Right after you save a token on the App tab, if you haven't agreed yet.
- When you turn on Upload every screenshot to Copium automatically.
- Now and then, unasked, after you save screenshots. The first unasked pop-up comes after your second saved screenshot. Clink asks unasked at most twice, at least a day apart. Pressing Not now in the welcome window counts as one of these. If a game is in front, Clink waits for a later screenshot.
If you aren't signed in, sharing a clip opens a window you can drag the clip from instead, and no pop-up appears.
A clip that already has a link just copies it; no pop-up is needed.
If you press Share last clip while a game is in front and haven't agreed yet, Clink doesn't put the pop-up over the game. It says "Sharing needs your OK once — open Clink and press Share" instead. If you aren't signed in, it says "No Copium token: open Clink to share the file" instead.
If Allow cloud sharing is off, Clink asks nothing. It says "Cloud sharing is off — enable it under App → Cloud sharing" instead. Turning Allow cloud sharing on asks "Allow cloud sharing?" first. Press Yes, allow cloud sharing to confirm or Cancel to leave it off.
Your choices
- Not now (the default button, also Esc) changes nothing. Clink asks again next time.
- Enable Copium sharing records your agreement. If you aren't signed in and weren't sharing a clip, Clink then opens the App tab at Sign in with Copium.
- Don't ask again stops Clink asking unasked. It doesn't record an agreement, so nothing is uploaded. When you share a clip or upload a screenshot yourself, with a token saved, Clink still asks each time until you say yes.
When the pop-up comes from a screenshot, it also has Also upload every screenshot I take automatically, unticked. Tick it before you press Enable Copium sharing to turn on automatic upload at the same time. Clips are never uploaded automatically.
For a moment after the pop-up appears, clicks on Enable Copium sharing and Don't ask again are ignored. Not now starts selected, so a stray Enter or Space counts as Not now and can't agree for you.
Where your answer is kept
Your agreement is kept in this Clink install's settings for your Windows account. Clink doesn't bring it across when you import settings from another install.
Reset "Don't show again" doesn't reset it. It only brings back the yellow border notice and the delete clip pop-up. Clink has no button to take your agreement back. To stop uploads, untick Allow cloud sharing. Your agreement stays recorded: turning cloud sharing back on asks "Allow cloud sharing?", but not "Share with Copium?", and automatic screenshot upload starts again if it was on. You can also sign out, or clear the token box and press Save, so Clink has no account to upload to. Your agreement still stays, so signing in or saving a token again doesn't ask.
Turn automatic upload on or off later
You can change it at any time in either place:
- On the Screenshots tab, tick or untick Upload every screenshot to Copium automatically.
- Click the version number at the bottom of the Clink window and use Auto-upload screenshots.
The box is greyed out while cloud sharing is off, and until you are signed in or have saved a token. If cloud sharing is off, the tab says "Cloud sharing is off — enable it under App → Cloud sharing". If you aren't signed in, it shows "Not signed in to Copium." with a Sign in with Copium under App → Copium link. Turning it on asks for your OK first if you haven't agreed to sharing yet (see Sharing consent).
The version-number popup also shows your Copium account: "Copium: " followed by your name, or "Copium: API token" if you pasted a token. The Auto-upload screenshots toggle sits under that line. If you aren't signed in, the popup shows a Sign in with Copium link instead. It opens the Copium card on the App tab. If cloud sharing is off, the popup shows the cloud sharing message instead (see below).
Copium+
While you are signed in with Copium, the I have Copium+ (bigger uploads) box follows your account and shows "From your Copium account". Next to your name, Clink adds "Copium+" if your account has it.
While cloud sharing is on, Clink checks your Copium account (name and Copium+) shortly after it starts, then once a day, and again if Copium says an upload is too large. If that check fails, you may see "Couldn't check your account just now." You stay signed in.
Sign out
If you signed in with Sign in with Copium, press Sign out on the Copium card. Clink tells you what happened:
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| Signed out. Clink's connection was removed from Copium. | Done. Nothing else to do. |
| Signed out on this PC. Remove the Clink connection on copium.pics under ShareX & API. | Clink is signed out here, but couldn't remove its connection. Remove it yourself. |
If Clink couldn't remove its connection, a notice says "Clink couldn't remove its connection from Copium. Remove" followed by the connection name in quotes and "on copium.pics under ShareX & API." In some cases it says "the connection probably named" the name instead. Press Open copium.pics to go to the ShareX & API page, where you can press Disconnect on it. Press Dismiss to hide the notice.
Use an API token instead
If you would rather paste a token than sign in:
Show the token box
On the Copium card, press Use an API token instead.
Get a token
Press Get a token to open copium.pics and create one.
Paste and save
Paste the token into the box and press Save.
There is no Sign out button for a pasted token. To stop using it, clear the box and press Save. The token keeps working on copium.pics until you delete it there.
Turn cloud sharing off
On the App tab, under Cloud sharing, untick Allow cloud sharing (Copium uploads for clips and screenshots). Nothing is uploaded and you can't sign in while it is off. Clink says "Cloud sharing is off — enable it under App → Cloud sharing". Screenshots and clips are still saved on your PC and copied to the clipboard. Turning it back on asks you to confirm.
This is useful on a work or shared computer.
